Three Ways To Use A Journal

Most people rarely reflect on their lives. Journaling daily would change that, making them reflect, acting like a mental cold shower. It won’t change your life overnight, but over months and years it can have a subtle positive influence that leads to major change. It forces you to pay attention, to bring things you were unaware of to your consideration. Here are three ways to use a journal:

To Clarify And Solve Problems
Sometimes we can get lost in the emotions of a situation, or we are simply unable to understand what has happened. Writing down what has happened can be like shining a light on a situation. What were jumbled voices in your head become concrete words on the page. A journal can provide the space and calm to consider something rationally. If you’re procrastinating about starting your internet marketing business rather than taking action and actually starting it, journaling can help reveal why.

To Record Your Activities
Similar to the above point, recording your daily activities every night can reveal your own life to you. How many people stay in jobs they hate? How many people waste years of their lives watching television? People do these things because they’re not conscious of what they’re doing and are drifting aimlessly. Journaling will snap you out of that daydream and shove the cold, hard facts in your face. It can be so effective that it’s unpleasant, but realising that you’re dissatisfied with a part of your life is the first step towards changing it.

To Plan Your Future
In your journal, you can ask yourself what you really want out of life. You can consider various options and then plan to make them happen. So many people have grand aspirations and ambitions, and so few actually end up achieving them. The reason they fail is because they don’t plan to make them actually happen; it’s like asking someone to marry you and then refusing to set a date for the wedding. With a journal, you can plan out every step towards whatever goal you wish to achieve or whatever change you want to make. Before you know it, you’ll be writing down the exact actions to take to start turning your dreams into reality.
